Vice-Chancellor paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Utkal University
Bhubaneswar: The 154th birth anniversary of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi and the World Day of Non-Violence have been observed at the non-violence site of Vani Vihar with the support of National Service Scheme (NSS) of Utkal University. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the pioneer of the Indian freedom struggle and the father of the nation of truth, peace and non-violence, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sabita Acharya, Warden Prof. Prabodh Kumar Hota, Prof. Kabir Mohan Sethi and teachers and students paid tributes to Gandhiji’s statue at the non-violence site by placing floral wreaths.
Prof. Sabita Acharya said that this day is a day for everyone to take a new resolution towards Gandhiji’s inspiration, values of life, peace, equality and communal harmony. He called upon the students to act inspired by Gandhiji’s ideals. On this occasion, the students recited poetry while giving a speech on Gandhiji’s philosophy of life.
Among others, NSS coordinator Dr. Brajnarayan Patra, Dr. Kirthiranjan Mallick, Ramesh Mallick was prominently present. NSS workers Rabinarayan Pan, Prashant Maharana, Mamata Das, Subash Pradhan and Jitendra Das assisted in conducting the programme.
