Week-long celebration held to mark the World Prosthodontics Day

ALIGARH  : The undergraduate and postgraduate students participated in various educational and outreach activities during the week-long celebrations organized by the Department of Prosthodontics, Dr ZA Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University, to mark the World Prosthodontist Day.

The activities included denture box distribution to patients, distribution of educational pamphlets, quiz competition for the undergraduate students, patient awareness programme, poster making by postgraduate students and their exhibition to increase awareness regarding interdisciplinary treatment carried out in the department.

Addressing the concluding session, chief guest, Prof R K Tewari (Principal, ZADC) stressed the need for dental professionals to adopt an interdisciplinary approach. He said the newer developments in dental surgery have paved the way for more accurate results and students should acquaint themselves with these developments.

The guest of honour, Prof. Habib Ahmed Alvi (Retired faculty member and the first chairman of the department of Prosthodontics) shared his experiences and views with the students and urged them to spread awareness about the rehabilitation work in dental treatment. He also donated books, journals and notes to the department.

Chairperson of the department, Prof Shaista Afroz highlighted the achievements of the department and shed light on the importance of the day.

A quiz competition for common people was organized in which patients directly interacted with the doctors. The winners were given prizes.

Dr. Safia Almas delivered a lecture highlighting the need for treatment, various treatment options and maintenance. Different hygiene tools and procedures were also discussed to keep teeth clean with natural and artificial means.

Earlier, Dr. Heba Ansar welcomed the guests and Dr. Suraj Vishweshwar extended the vote of thanks.
