Workshop held on Characterization Techniques

 

ALIGARH  : The subject experts, faculty members and research students gathered to discuss the secrets of the nanoscale and its applications at a workshop on “Advanced Characterization Techniques and Applications in Nanomaterials”, organized by the Interdisciplinary Nanotechnology Centre (INC), Aligarh Muslim University.

The chief guest, AMU Vice Chancellor Prof Mohammad Gulrez, while inaugurating the workshop, stressed the significance of holding the workshop on characterization techniques and highlighting the applications of nanomaterials in the present world. He also released the current issue (Vol 2, Issue 1) of the research magazine, Nanoletters.

Prof. Mohammad Altamush Siddiqui, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology discussed the application of nanomaterials in various fields of science, technology and biotechnology. He congratulated the participants for receiving training in X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and UV-visible NIR spectroscopy.

Prof. M. M. Sufyan Beg, Principal, Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology spoke on the importance of characterization techniques and stated that the insights gained from characterizing nanomaterials have led to pioneering innovations that reshaped industries and improved the lives of the common people.

Prof. Anchal Srivastava, Banaras Hindu University, delivered a lecture on “A Journey from Eye to Electron Microscopy” and took the audience on an awe-inspiring expedition through the fascinating world of microscopy.

She elucidated the evolution of microscopy techniques and their pivotal role in unravelling the mysteries of nanostructures.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, INC Director, Dr. Mohd Azhar Aziz said it is a significant opportunity for us to explore the intricacies of the nanoscale world and the transformative impact it has in various fields.

He said that the training sessions provided the participants with an opportunity to transcend the theoretical knowledge and dive directly into the instrumentation and methodologies that underpin the advanced characterization techniques essential for nanomaterial research.

Dr. Swaleha Naseem extended a vote of thanks after the distribution of certificates to the participants.
