Workshop on visible birth defects
Aligarh: Medical Officers of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), Aligarh District were given a ‘basic orientation to visible birth defects’ to identify prenatal congenital anomalies, abnormalities and malformations at delivery points and block level in an online workshop organised by the District Early Intervention Centre and Centre of Excellence (DEIC-COE), J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
Prof Tabassum Shahab, Honorary Advisor, DEIC-COE explained how DEIC-COE can help the marginalised section of our society.
Prof Kamran Afzal, Convener, DEIC-COE spoke on the social stigma around the visible birth defects; while Dr Uzma Firdaus, Nodal Officer, DEIC-COE delineated methods of identifying various birth defects.
Dr Gulnaz Nadri (Pediatrician), Dr M Rashid Equbal (Medical Officer), and Dr M Navedur Rahman (Dental Surgeon) discussed skills necessary to develop better methods for the identification of birth defects.
M Ahmad (Training Coordinator, DEIC-COE) spoke on the importance of raising awareness. M Anwar Siddiqui (Manager, DEIC-COE) extended the vote of thanks. Medical officers also appeared for online tests before and after the workshop.
