Workshop organized on fruit preservation

ALIGARH  : The Centre of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension (CCAEE), Aligarh Muslim University organized a workshop on “Fruit Preservation”, in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture and Fruit Preservation, Aligarh District, with Mr Shyam Sundar as a resource person.

Mr Sundar discussed various issues faced by the self help groups and emphasized the importance of launching start ups in the fruit preservation based food products’ sector. He provided necessary information to the learners of the centre for starting small scale businesses in producing and marketing various types of squashes, mixed fruit jam, mixed pickle, etc.

About 70 students participated in a practical exam that followed the workshop and were declared successful in their understanding of things pertaining to the subject matter.

The Director of the Centre, Dr. Shamim Akhtar stressed the need to form a self-help group to launching start ups successfully and cited the example of Lijjat Papad that became a big industry from a small business venture.

He said that the centre is organizing a sale of products made by its learners on March 9 in the premises of the centre.
