Young athletes participated in Boxing, Fencing, Speedcubing, and Taekwondo on the Day 4 of SFA Championships in Dehradun
Dehradun : The SFA Championships 2023 in Dehradun continued on Day 4, as multi-sports debuted at Parade Grounds, while swimming championship took place at Shree Sports Academy. In a first, speedcubing debuted at in Dehradun Championships today. The halls of Parade Ground bustled with athletes, participating across 5 sports – Boxing, Fencing, Taekwondo, Volleyball and Speedcubing.
As SFA Championships empowered indoor sports along with outdoor sports, the speedcubing competition made its debut at the SFA Championships in Dehradun, drawing in participants from U-12 to U-18 categories.
The final results of Fencing competitions for U-12 to U-17 (Boys and Girls) revealed some very interesting leaderboard positions. For instance U-14 in girls (for Foil) saw Greenwood Hills School, Mothrowala pick all the podium positions. Whereas, U-14 in boys (for Foil) gold and bronze medals were picked by Greenwood Hill School, Mothrowala and silver by Social Baluni Public School.
Maharana Pratap Sports College is leading the ranking table with 176 points clinching 24 gold, 15 silver and 11 bronze medals, followed by St. Joseph’s Academy at 68 points and Social Baluni Public School at 45 points. The competition remains fierce to determine the number one school in sports as schools continue to display outstanding performances across a wide spectrum of sporting disciplines.
Mohit Bhardwaj, Father of Udi Bhardwaj, participant of U-11 Boxing competition said, “SFA Championships is an excellent platform for kids to compete and learn how championships work. I think SFA should keep on organising such Championships to help our kids get better in sports.”
Day 5 is all set to be a landmark in the SFA Championships as it will witness the participation of nearly 650 talented female athletes. #SheisGold is a special initiative by SFA Championships to celebrate the remarkable prowess of young females in sports reflecting SFA’s commitment to empowering the champions of tomorrow.
