New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar witnessed its most energetic annual cultural fest, Zeitgeist, 2017,based on the theme of “The Spirit of Times”. The event was inaugurated by a stand-up comedian Satyavrat Mahopatra from Bhubaneswar Komedians, on 24th March 2017 at the campus. The events were sparkled with an outstanding performance by the famous Bollywood Playback singer Mohit Chauhan and Alfaaz a renowned Punjabi singer and a music producer followed by many cultural events at the campus.
The festival was lined up with exciting competitions such as Yatharth- Drama competition, App for apple – for app enthusiasts, face arts, Sketching, Rangoli, blind paintings, Literary conclave quizzes. Alongside this, every night, there were special celebrity performances which attracted many audiences from around the places. Zeitgeist also organized IIT Ropar Torque where the participants were given a chance to showcase their talent and won gift vouchers upto Rs. 15000 from Maruti Suzuki Colors of Youth Season 6.
On the second day of the festival, IIT Ropar and State Bank of India in association with Vh1 India and MTV Beats announced the pronite for Zeitgeist’17, staring the famous Punjabi star Alfaaz. The show became a big success and witnessed the presence of huge crowd. The day also witnessed many cultural events that took place such as stage plays, instrumental music, street dance and many more.
On day 3, Bollywood Rockstar Mohit Chauhan rocked the campus with his sensational performance. Zeitgeist, IIT Ropar also conducted the lifestyle events such as Mr & Ms Zeitgeist and a fashion show, Lashkara, which was presented in association with ASPA Productions and STYLE VIRUS at Zeitgeist’17.
