2-day Regional Conference on ‘Replication of Good Governance Practices’ begins at SKICC
SRINAGAR: A two day Regional Conference on ‘Replication of Good Governance Practices’ in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir commenced today at SKICC here.
The conference was inaugurated by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh in presence of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, Secretary DARPG, Sanjay Singh, Chief Secretary, J&K, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta and Additional Secretary DARPG, V.Srinivas.
The Conference is being organised by Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India in collaboration with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
The conference has been organized with an aim to bring national and state level organizations on the same platform to share experiences in Administrative Innovations, Welfare Programs, Digital Governance, Citizen-Centric Governance and Capacity Building and Personnel Administration etc.
More than 700 officers from 10 States and Union Territories are taking part in this two day conference both in person and through virtual mode.
The conference has been divided into several technical sessions with each session having a specific theme based topic on innovations in governance.
In the pre-inaugural session chaired by V.Srinivas, presentations on the topic “Innovation (Centre)” were delivered by experts of diverse fields. During this pre-inaugural session, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Usha Padhee gave a presentation on UDAN-Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik while as Joint Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution, S.Jagannathan talked about One Nation One Ration Card National Portability. Similarly, DDG Posts, Pawan Kumar Singh highlighted about the Innovations in Financial Inclusion – Aapka Bank Aapke Dwar; and Senior Technical Director NIC, Kapil Kumar Sharma talked about NIC- e-Office.
In the post-lunch session, chaired by Joint Secretary DARPG, NBS Rajput, presentations on theme Innovations (States) were deliverd by various officers of several states. During the session, presentations on topics like Geotagging and Public Disclosure of Assets, Multiple Innovations and Extensive Reforms in Examination Systems and Processes in Bihar School Examination Board, Decentralised system of Micro Composting Centres (MCC) and Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) for efficient solid waste management, Conversion of Abandoned quarries as Water Reservoirs and Tertiary Treatment of Waste Water and e-Office implementation in J&K were presented by officers and experts of J&K and other states.
During the event, an e-Book titled ‘Minimum Government, Maximum Governance’ (MGMG), comprising of write-ups on select Administrative Innovations was also released by the dignitaries to mark the occasion.
As part of the conference, several interactive sessions were held in every module to provide participants an opportunity to attain a better understanding of various topics covered in the programme.
