Project in English “10 reasons to visit the Republic of Karelia”
On the basis of the Resource Center of Modern Methods of Teaching Foreign Languages of the Department of Foreign Languages of Humanities, a joint group project “10 reasons to visit the Republic of Karelia” is continuing in the media space for those who are studying in the direction of training “Tourism”.
The project was prepared and is being implemented under the guidance of the head. KIYAGN, Doctor of Philosophy I.E. Abramova and Art. teacher KIYAGN O.O. Nikolaeva.
The virtual project will allow first-year students, future professionals in the hospitality industry, to exchange experience in attracting tourists to our northern region with their senior colleagues, contributing to the development of forms of professional cooperation between undergraduates and undergraduate students.
In the process of work, students (16 bachelors and 6 undergraduates) independently organized the study in mini-groups of the topics they chose-the reasons for visiting the republic, among which were named such recognized tourist brands as Ruskeala marble canyon, Vottovaara mountain, Karelian petroglyphs (Belomorsky, Onezhsky ), Girvas volcano, Kivach and Yukankoski waterfalls (White bridges) and some others. Interacting with each other, the participants of the working groups search and analyze text, audio and video materials on local history, share their impressions with each other in English and Russian, trying their hand not only as speakers, but also as translators, creating such products. like, for example, digital stories (Digital Story).
In addition, members of mini-groups pay special attention to the unusual format of digital presentations in a foreign language, made in the mainstream of scientific discourse, and the important features inherent in such messages: clear structure, consistency, information content and the presence of clearly formulated conclusions from scientific research. Students also note the non-trivial visual design of digital stories, which plays a significant role in the perception of the material.
The project will continue until the end of the academic year and will include master classes, workshops and seminars for students in the humanities.
