Major of the medical service Natalya Kuleshova, a graduate of the Medical Institute of PetrSU, became a laureate of the “Woman of the Year – 2021” competition in the “Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Activity” category.
Military doctors-women from day to day perform complex tasks on which the fate, and sometimes the life of people depend. In the current difficult time of the coronavirus pandemic, sparing no effort, they continue to fight for the lives and health of patients.

Natalya Kuleshova – senior resident of the infectious diseases department of the military clinical hospital of the Western Military District, major of the medical service. In 1999, after receiving a diploma from the medical faculty of Petrozavodsk State University and passing an internship in the specialty “Infectionist”, she, a reserve officer, wanted to join the Armed Forces. She came to the garrison hospital in Petrozavodsk, where she was offered the only vacancy – the head of the department.

In 2009, after organizational staff activities, she was sent to the troops as the head of the medical service – the head of the first-aid post of the artillery brigade. The position was troublesome: a significant number of personnel, constant visits to the landfill – there was an opportunity to smell gunpowder!

Major of the medical service Kuleshova has been a senior resident of the infectious diseases department of the military clinical hospital of the Western Military District for the seventh year. During her service, she gained medical experience and confidence in the treatment of the most serious patients. However, the appearance of patients with COVID-19 has become the most difficult test of professionalism. This was followed by the prompt re-profiling of two infectious diseases departments into the “red zone” and round-the-clock medical practice.
