Aligarh Muslim University Dept of Home Science organises workshop
Aligarh: “We need to show women, mirrors reflecting their inner strength, patience, multi-tasking stamina and their capabilities of financial management,” said Prof Anisa M Durrani, Chairperson, Department of Home Science, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) during the workshop on ‘Pehel Gharbaer se Karobar Tak: Effectiveness of Women Self-help Groups in Developing Microenterprise’.
She added that the participants in the workshop were shown how women from lower income groups can start microenterprises or small businesses with few employees and small amount of capital.
In the welcome address, Dr Saba Khan spoke on the importance of the workshop and how microenterprises, while individually small in size and scope, can collectively represent a substantial portion of the economy and employment.
Distributing certificates to the participants, Prof Farzana Alim discussed how microenterprises can grow into more established small businesses and larger companies.
Mrs Zeba Sarmad delineated works of Mahila-e-Haat (Portal for leveraging support to women for entrepreneurship development).
Research scholars and students of the department screened informative videos and conducted street plays on the occasion.
