Kishtwar Development Authority , Army organises trekking expedition from Pathar Morh to Sinthan Maidan

 

KISHTWAR : Kishtwar Development Authority in collaboration with district administration and 11 RR unit, Indian Army today revived the trekking adventurism by organising a trekking expedition from Pathar Morh to Sinthan Maidan.

The aim of this event was to inculcate and further promote trekking and mountaineering spirit among locals and also identify and build upon the avenues of tourism in District Kishtwar.

The flagging off ceremony was attended by ADC Kishtwar Kishori Lal Sharma, CEO KDA Inderjeet Singh Parihar, CO 11 RR Colonel Shish Pal Singh, AO DC office Kishtwar Imran Ahmed Kichloo, BDO Inderwal Tasleem Wani, Local PRIs and other prominent members of Army and Civil Administration.

At the beginning, Indian Army imparted awareness on expedients for jungle survival through a demonstration .

The Forest Department created awareness about Flora and Fauna of mountains of Kishtwar besides senior officers also conducted plantation drives of medicinal plants on the start point of trekking route.

After the mesmerising trek of 10 kilometers through Chingam valley, the event culminated with heart warming demonstration of Gujjar Bakrawals musical and rich culture and traditions at Sinthan Maidan wherein Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma, ADDC Kishtwar sham Lal beside other officers also participated.

The event also witnessed horse riding and later winners of the horse riding competition organised by Indian Army were felicitated by dignitaries.

A total of 100 locals participated in the Trekking to include all segments of society. The spirit displayed by the trekkers was indeed phenomenal. The zeal and rigour of the local youth was praiseworthy right from participation till the culmination of the trek.

The locals at the Trekking event hugely appreciated the efforts of the KDA, Civil Administration and Indian Army for conducting such an event which brings to the fore the sense of affection for nature and foster tourism in the region.
