Department of Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized an Extension Lecture and Workshop on “Newer Trends in Management of Osteoporosis”

 

ALIGARH : The Department of Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized an Extension Lecture and Workshop on “Newer Trends in Management of Osteoporosis”.

In his inaugural address, Prof Anjum Parvez (Chairperson, Department of Medicine, JNMCH), discussed the challenges faced by patients on renal replacement therapy and post-transplant patients due to defects in bone mineralisation and osteoporosis; and stressed the need for newer interventions to overcome these challenges.

In his lecture, Dr Jitendra Kumar (Director, Nephrology and Transplant Medicine, Accord Hospital, Faridabad, Haryana) discussed the upcoming evidence-based tools in the management of osteoporosis in patients on renal replacement therapy.

He emphasized its importance in post-renal transplant patients and sharing his experience and miraculous stories of patients, he shed light on the recent advancements and updates in the literature on effective management and diagnosis of osteoporosis; which happens to be a potential threat for fractures in patients undergoing renal replacement therapy.

Dr Mohd Aslam (Incharge, Nephrology Division and Dialysis Unit) introduced the guest speaker and elaborated on his achievements with special focus on his long experience in the field of Nephrology from revolutionary publications in national and international journals to holding awareness programmes and campaigns regarding renal transplantation.

Dr Amir Husain extended the vote of thanks and Dr N Madhu Hasini conducted the programme.
