JNMC issues appeal, ZADC organises Oral Health Day with sessions on COVID 19

Aligarh: In wake of the COIVD 19 (Coronavirus) outbreak, the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has restricted elective surgeries and made an appeal to the public for restricting access to the hospital. JNMC has also ordered to have adequate supply of N-95/ surgical masks in front areas of the hospital such as OPD, HDU, ICU and Trauma among others.

Professor Shahid Ali Siddiqui (Principal and Chief Medical Superintendent) said that RDA has been fully cooperating with the medical college authorities and as a pre-emptive measure, OPD registration in JNMC will close at 10: 30 am and there will be fewer clinic staff provided with complete Personal Protective Equipments (PPE).

Meanwhile, the Department of Periodontics and Public Health Dentistry, Dr Z A Dental College (ZADC) observed the World Oral Health Day, while organising special screening of patients and ‘awareness sessions’ on personal hygiene, social distancing and proper hand-washing to curb COIVD 19 (Coronavirus).

“Patients were briefed on various tooth sensitivity symptoms that range from slight discomfort to severe pain and how sensitivity-free life is possible by changing daily oral care habits, besides being screened as a preventive measure during the Coronavirus outbreak,” said Prof R K Tewari (Principal, ZADC).

“During the observations, patients were also given information on how common dental problems can develop over time, as a result of wearing of the enamel and recession of the gums; while urging them to visit hospitals only in case of emergencies during the COVID 19 pandemic,” emphasised Prof Tiwari.

Dr Afshan Beg (Chairperson, Department of Periodontics and Public Health Dentistry), Prof N D Gupta, Dr M K Jindal, Dr Neha Agarwal and Dr Pramod Kumar Yadav with interns advised patients to not visit hospitals and other crowded places for the coming 15 days to avoid community spread of the virus.

Demonstrations of proper ways to wash and sanitise hands also took place.
