CREATIVE MELA: Exhibition Showcasing Artistry and Empowerment at AMU
Aligarh : The University Women’s Polytechnic, in collaboration with the Moinuddin Ahmad Art Gallery, presented “Creative Mela,” a Three-Day Exhibition held from October 4th to 6th. This event showcased an extraordinary collection of creativity, featuring a diverse range of gowns, traditional attire, Tie-Dye artistry, Resin, Paper, and bead jewelry, Tote & Jute Bags, Crochet work, Digital & Manual Illustrations, Paintings, Wall hangings, and Scale Models. The exhibition was thoughtfully curated by the students of the Diploma Costume Design & Dress Making Section.
At the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Naima Khatoon, Principal of Women’s College, AMU, appreciated students’ creativity. She commended the hard work and talent of both students and staff from the CD&DM section.
The primary aim of Creative Mela was to promote skill development for women’s empowerment and to foster the growth of young entrepreneurs and start-ups. It also aimed to instill empathy among students for business propositions said Prof. Salma Shaheen, Convener and Principal of Women’s Polytechnic.
Ms. Syed Shahezadi, Member of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), lauded the craftsmanship displayed by the students of the Costume Design & Dress Making Section during her visit.
Prof. Badar Jahan, Coordinator at the Moinuddin Ahmad Art Gallery, Dept. of Fine Arts said this Creative Mela has not only provided a platform for students to explore entrepreneurship but has also opened doors of opportunity for others to follow. With over 350 visitors in attendance, the feedback has been nothing short of remarkable.
