Himachal Governor appreciates the services of postal personnels during COVID-19

Director of Himachal Pradesh Postal Service Dinesh Kumar Mistry and Assistant Post Master General Bishan Singh called on Governor Bandaru Dattatraya at Raj Bhawan today. They apprised the Governor of the services being provided through postal services during the lockdown period in the state.

Postal Department officials said that about 4 lakh pensioners of the state have been provided with the pension at their doorstep. He said that from March 25, 2020 till date, India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) of the Department of Posts has made the payment of about 5 crore through 11413 transactions. Medicines were sent to about 7000 customers from the state to all across the country. Around 250 parcels of cancer-related medicines were being booked every day for the country. He said that postage is being disposed of every day through government and private vehicles for distribution of essential postage across the state. He informed that 30 quintal rations had been allocated to about 170 needy people.

Shri Dattatraya appreciated the services of Department of Posts being provided to the common people, during the Corona epidemic. He said that all the personnels of the department were serving the state as Corona warriors. The distribution of pension by them was giving out a positive message. Referring to Una District Superintendent of Posts, Ram Tirth Sharma and his team, he said that they have set an example by giving more than Rs 12 crore at the door step of 30000 account holders. He stressed the need to expand services by making full use of technology in the department. He said that modern technology should be used especially in remote areas of the state such as Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti. He said that there is a need to change the traditional methods.
