Anaesthesia Extension Lectures at JNMC

Aligarh : Two Gurugram based MedantaMedicity doctors with proven expertise in Anaesthesia recently delivered extension lectures at the Department of Anaesthesiology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

Dr Harsh Sapra (Senior Director and Head Neuroanaesthesia and Neurocritical Care) delineated ‘Critical Care Management of Acute Ischaemic Stroke’, while Dr Raj Kumar Arora (Associate Director and Head, Pain Medicine) enlightened the faculty and resident doctors on ‘Trigeminal Neuralgia – an Update’.

“Dr Harsh explained how intensive care management of stroke is focused on reducing complications of reperfusion such as hemorrhagic transformation, and minimising secondary brain injury, including brain edema and progressive stroke. Dr Raj Kumar discussed the importance of detailed history of patients for diagnosing trigeminal neuralgia (TN) and predicting response to neurosurgical treatments”, said Prof Qazi Ehsan Ali (Chairman, Department of Anaesthesiology and Organising Chairman of the programme.

Prof Qazi also delivered the welcome address.

After the extension lectures, Prof Rakesh Bhargava (Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal, JNMC) remarked: “These useful lectures go a long way in strengthening health workers at all levels to tackle medical emergencies at source”.

“The enthusiastic interaction of the participants and the way they engaged in discussion with the guest speakers indicate that these lectures have been very fruitful”, said Prof Harris Manzoor Khan (Chief Medical Superintendent, JNMC).

Prof Hammad Usmani (Event Coordinator) and Dr S. Hussain Amir introduced the speakers and gave a brief about their outstanding contributions.

Prof Shahla Haleem, Dr Abu Nadeem, Dr Obaid A Siddiqui and Dr Shahna Ali also spoke on recent developments in the Anaesthesia field.

Dr Nazia Tauheed conducted the programme and Dr S Kamran Habib extended the vote of thanks.

Faculty members and resident doctors from across various JNMC departments and the Dr Z A Dental College attended the programme.
