CM Dhami, Minister Rekha Arya & MLA Khajan Dass inaugurate Uttarakhand Rajya Yuva Mahotsav 

 Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Rajya Yuva Mahotsav 2023-24 was inaugurated by Chief Minister Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami, Youth Welfare & Sports Minister Rekha Arya and MLA Rajpur Khajan Dass at Parade Ground today. Organized by the Department of Youth Welfare & PRD, the 5-day-long festival features over 250 stalls by start-ups, youth groups, and self-help groups, that include handicrafts, textiles, millets, and more, and will conclude on 9th January. Additionally, there are over 25 food stalls based on local traditional and fusion food.

The program commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony by all the dignitaries followed by a cultural performance by Sangam Group of Dehradun.

Addressing the audience, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “I extend my best wishes to all the participants and organizers of the Uttarakhand Rajya Yuva Mahotsav. I have full faith that our talented youth will show excellence in the upcoming Yuva Mahotsav in Maharashtra and bring laurels to Uttarakhand on the national level. I believe that to foster creativity, youngsters need to connect with people of all ages and walks of life. The future of India depends on the efforts of our youth, as they are the true strength of our country in the times to come.”

He further said, “The greatest strength that India possesses is demography and democracy. Furthermore, our country is evolving under the able leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose guidance, the mantra of the new India is to compete and emerge as winners. Lastly, the Uttarakhand Government has always been committed to the welfare of the youth of our state, and on this occasion, we are launching schemes which will further benefit our youth.”

CM Dhami further informed that to further foster youth welfare and development in Uttarakhand, Swami Vivekanand Youth Resource & Development Cells will be made in every block of all districts in the state.

Adding further, Youth Welfare & Sports Minister Rekha Arya said, “The youth of any state is one of its biggest assets and strengths. Whichever place has capable youth, that place in itself emerges powerful. The times have changed as today we see youth willing to undertake any challenge in their lives. This program is a commendable move towards guiding the youth of Uttarakhand in the right direction. In this aspect, several sessions will be held from 5th to 9th January during which the queries of youth will be thoroughly addressed. We have also included the elements of sports in this program, wherein numerous sports and games competitions will be held. I would like to conclude with a saying from Swami Vivekanand which goes like ‘The bigger the struggle, the greater the victory’.”

Praising the efforts of CM Uttarakhand, MLA Rajpur Khajan Dass said, “The youth of Uttarakhand has immensely benefited from the various schemes launched under the guidance of our Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. I thank the CM, without whom, the Mool Niwas Pramaan Patra wouldn’t have been possible. I wish luck to everyone who is a part of the Uttarakhand Rajya Yuva Mahotsav.”

During the occasion, the Director of the Department of Youth Welfare & PRD, Jitendra Kumar Sonkar said, “This program is being organized under the theme ‘Youth As Job Creators’ allotted to Uttarakhand. Moreover, as this occasion is being celebrated to honor Swami Vivekanand, the event also features some of his notable work. I feel that Uttarakhand will emerge as a Youth Resource Center in the future.”

The Central Government has assigned the theme of ‘Youth As Job Creators’ to Uttarakhand for this year’s Youth Festival. Additionally, on different days of the program, performances by various folk singers and discussions will take place with various expert youths on the theme of ‘Youth As Job Creators.’ The festival will feature group folk songs, folk dances, solo folk songs, solo dances, classical singing, yoga practices, and many more competitions. The winners of the competition will participate in the National Youth Festival to be held in Nashik, Maharashtra, between January 12 and 16.

The day 1 of the Uttarakhand Rajya Yuva Mahotsav concluded with a scintillating Sanskritik sandhya by the popular folk singer Rohit Chauhan.
