Evening of culture of the Mari people
An evening of culture of the Mari people took place in the reading room of the Scientific Library of PetrSU. The folklore and ethnographic ensemble “Shuldyr” (director – Alevtina Voitovich) performed for the audience.
“Sh u ldyr” is translated from the Mari language – “wings”, from the Udmurt language – “merry”. The creative team presented the traditional culture of the Finno-Ugric peoples of Russia. The ensemble was founded at the Department of Music of the Finno-Ugric Peoples of the Petrozavodsk State Conservatory named after V.I. A.K. Glazunov in 2017. The members of the ensemble are students and teachers, representatives of the Finno-Ugric peoples of Russia (Udmurts, Mari, Komi, Karelians).
The repertoire is based on traditional tunes and songs of Mari, Udmurts, Komi, Karelians.
