Financial literacy workshop organized

Aligarh : The Department of Commerce, Aligarh Muslim University organized a financial literacy workshop for self-help group members and women workers, in collaboration with the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) under its outreach programme policy.

In his keynote address, Mr Surya Kant Sharma (Senior Consultant, Association of Mutual Funds in India – AMFI) emphasized the importance of financial savings, adding that even small savings can prove to be fruitful in the long term.

Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Prof M.N. Zamir Qureshi delivered the welcome address while Prof S.M. Imamul Haque, Chairman of the department highlighted the main features of the workshop and stressed the need for getting financially educated for all in a widely increased online financial transaction environment.

Organizing Secretary, Dr. Akeelurrehman said that the workshop was organized in order to sensitize rural women to become financially literate and empower them to take their financial decisions. Topics like financial planning, government policies like Jan Dhan Yojna, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna and Mudra Yojna were also discussed.

Programme Coordinator, Dr. Jahangir Chauhan proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Naghma Azhar conducted the programme.

More than 150 self-help women workers attended the workshop.
