Kathua: 16 children among 41 persons provided Special Financial Assistance under Saksham Scheme

 

KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Rahul Yadav today approved 5 more cases for providing financial aid under SAKSHAM Scheme launched by UT administration to support victims of Covid affected families.

Pertinently, Special Assistance Scheme for Covid Mortalities (SASCM) also referred as Saksham Scheme was launched by Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha in May, 2021 in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir aiming to provide special assistance to the dependents of persons who lost their lives due to Covid-19.

As provided in guidelines, the aim of the scheme was to provide Special Financial Assistance in the shape of Pension to those families who have lost their only or all earning family member(s) and scholarship in favour of those children (upto two), who have lost their earning parent(s) or earning sibling(s) or earning legal guardian(s) due to covid-19.

District Social Welfare Officer, Abdul Raheem stated that with five new case approved by Deputy Commissioner Kathua, the total cases approved in Kathua District have reached 41 which includes 25 for pension and 16 for Education Scholarship to the children of the Covid victims.
