Korea Maritime & Ocean University: Signed a business agreement with the dormitory BTL project operator
The dormitory, a dormitory space equipped with cutting-edge convenience facilities, will be built on the second campus of Woori University located in the Dongsam Innovation District in Yeongdo .
On the afternoon of the 17th, our university held a ‘ Dormitory rental private investment project (BTL) agreement ceremony ‘ with (tentative name) Smart Dormitory Co., Ltd. in the international conference room on the 5th floor of the university headquarters . ( tentative name ) Smart Dormitory Co., Ltd. is a corporation composed of participating companies such as HJ Heavy Industries Co., Ltd.
The signing ceremony was attended by President Doh Do-hee, the project implementer, HJ Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. general manager Hwang Jae-geun , managing director Jang Beom-taek, and Wonjung Enterprises CEO Ko Jae-jeong, and they agreed to make efforts for the successful construction of the new university dormitory .
The dormitory to be built on the 2nd campus will be built on a site of 3,567 m2 with a total floor area of 9,500 m2 (1 basement level and 10 above ground) with a capacity of 500 people . HJ Heavy Industries will manage the project and Wonjung Enterprise will manage the project . The total project cost is 25.57 billion won, and construction is scheduled to begin in March 2023 and be completed in August 2024 .
In the dormitory , various convenience facilities such as a restaurant , a reading room , a marine culture space, a marine community space, a communal laundry room, a rest room, and a convenience store will be built . You can move into the dormitory from the second semester of the 2024 academic year.
President Doh Doe-hee said, “ With this new construction, we are expected to break away from the existing old facilities and greatly help students to improve their living environment and inspire their desire to learn . We will continue to invest in improving the living environment of students for the sake of nurturing them.”
Meanwhile , the total occupancy of the dormitory at Korea Maritime University is 2,692, which is over 40 % . It has the highest dormitory acceptance rate among national and public universities nationwide.
