Korea Maritime & Ocean University signs agreement with Hyundai Heavy Industries

Our university signs a business agreement with Hyundai Heavy Industries ( CEOs: Han Young -seok and Lee Sang-gyun ) to lead the future ship sector and jointly foster talents who will lead the 4th industrial revolution . This is an agreement based on the business agreement for the launch of the ‘ Future Ships Excellence Talent Nurturing Support Association ‘ signed in September 2021 .



The Future Ship Talent Fostering Support Association ( Secretariat Korea Shipping Association ) is a sponsoring organization established by leading domestic maritime industry-related organizations including Hyundai Heavy Industries . aims to do



Under this agreement, Hyundai Heavy Industries will deliver 20 million won in donations to the university every year until 2027 . Our university plans to accelerate the cultivation of excellent talents in the marine field based on the funds received .



President Doh Do-hee said , “ As a society composed of hyper-connected digital devices is coming , the importance of nurturing related professionals cannot be overemphasized over and over again. ” ” he said .



The Department of Maritime Artificial Intelligence and Security of the College of Maritime Affairs is a newly established department to meet the need for artificial intelligence and cybersecurity experts in accordance with the 4th industrial revolution and the emergence of high-tech ships . It is evaluated .



The goal of the department is to nurture creative mariners who will be in charge of the operation and management of ships with artificial intelligence and cyber security technologies . In the future, ‘ artificial intelligence and cyber security experts ‘ specialized in information protection in the field of autonomous ships and shipping and maritime affairs are expected .



In addition, in the case of students of this undergraduate department, not only specialized education in related fields , but also all first – year students and half of second- and fourth- year students receive full scholarships thanks to the continuous support of the Future Ship Talent Development Support Association .
