LETI and UTM Sign ink an Agreement

On May 18, Viktor Sheludko, Rector of LETI, and Ahmad Fauzi Bin Ismail, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Technology of Malaysia (UTM), signed a memorandum of understanding between the two universities. The signing took place as part of the International Economic Forum “Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2023.”

“Today, we are laying a solid foundation for international cooperation by signing a memorandum of understanding with the University of Technology Malaysia. By bringing together two leading technical universities, we are opening the door to an exchange of knowledge, experience, and innovation. As part of this cooperation, LETI and UTM students will have a unique opportunity to gain new experiences of study and practice in another country without interrupting the main educational process.”

Viktor Sheludko, Rector of LETI

Under the agreement, LETI and UTM will seek to strengthen, promote and develop cooperation based on equality and mutual benefit in the academic mobility of students and teachers, education, and research.

LETI plans to open a representative office and laboratory in UTM. Also, LETI is developing an advanced program for teachers from Malaysia.

The signing of the memorandum was attended by Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia, and Airat Gatiyatov, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The LETI delegation also took part in a meeting with representatives of the ministries, where the parties discussed the development of scientific and academic relations between the two countries.

LETI and UTM are already actively cooperating. At the end of April, an online engineering training program was launched for 174 Malaysian and Russian students. Its participants will learn the basics of electronics, photonics, English and Russian, mathematics, and physics.

The universities are now working on developing an academic mobility program for students. LETI and the University of Technology of Malaysia already have experience with such collaboration: the parties actively cooperated in online mobility programs during the pandemic.
