LPU Students’ Afreen Group competing excellently at Colors Channel’s National Reality Show “Rising Star”

 

Jalandhar: Keeping winning spirit all-alive, Lovely Professional University (LPU) students’ Afreen Group has been continuously excelling all other contestants at Colors TV Channel’s national reality show “Rising Star”. Starting with their unbeatable performance at first elimination round to third round of ‘Duets’ singing, LPU students are proving to be national champions step-by-step by qualifying each round of the show by gaining near 90% live votes. Celebrity experts & guests at the show from Bollywood, including Shankar Mahadevan, Sukhwinder Singh, Richa Sharma, Monali Thakur, Diljit Dosanjh, accorded standing ovation to their all performances, hitherto. LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal encourages LPU group to bring laurels to the university by winning the scintillating trophy of the competition.

LPU Afreen Group’s eleven students Ashish, Deepak, Vipan, Amrit Sahil, Sumit Bhalla, Sadak Kumar, Amit, Suresh, Rajesh, Sachin Paul and only one girl Sanjana Bhola belong to different professional programmes, other than performing arts. All of them are already national champion by winning first ever national qawwali competition “Afreen (Bazm-E-Qawwali)” of Association of Indian universities, where students from all across the country competed. Since then, this group of students has named itself as “Afreen Group”.

The Indian version of much popular international show ‘Rising Star’ is an interactive show full of fun and entertainment. Shankar Mahadevan feels: “This show stands apart from the many singing-based reality shows as it is high on audience engagement, giving viewers the power to select their favourite contestants. The fact that it’s a unique concept and its core lies in pure, unadulterated music.”

Only female constituent of the group, Sanjana Bhola, who presents herself as the renowned qawwals of the olden days, holds: “Our University keep on providing us dignified platforms to express our inner-self in the best possible way. After winning AIU’s qawwali competition, our mentors at LPU directed us to apply for auditions and from there after winning other rounds we reached Mumbai at the show. We are continuously getting much love and blessings from our admirers and we hope never to disappoint. We will continue to perform our best for this very special ‘Qawwali Genre’.

In fact, in contrast to other Channels’ singing competitions, Colors’ ‘Rising Star’ features celebrity experts and considers viewers sitting before their TV Screens as judges. During each performance, viewers decide through live-voting whether or not a contestant to be forwarded to the next round by using a mobile voting app ‘VOOT’. LPU awesome performers have been successful every-time in raising the winning wall.
