MTR Foods and The Akshaya Patra Foundation partners to Launch Mid-Day Meal
MTR Foods, a pioneer in packaged foods, in collaboration with Akshaya Patra – an implementing partner of the Government of India’s PM Poshan Program, is expanding its school feeding program at the Government Higher Primary School, Kumbarakoppalu, Mysuru. This year’s initiative supported by MTR Foods will provide more than 13 lakh hot-nutritious Mid-Day meals in over 120 schools in Mysuru and Hubli districts of Karnataka for a period of one year.
At the launch event, MTR Foods was represented by Mr. Sunay Bhasin, Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Murthy R, GM – Sales, while on behalf of Akshaya Patra Foundation, Mr. Anant Arora, Chief Sustainability & Communication Officer was present.
MTR Foods has been immensely supporting the Foundation towards the PM Poshan (Formerly known as Mid-Day Meal) Program and since 2014 this association has benefitted in serving over 55 lakh meals across Karnataka. In FY 2021-22, for the Covid affected people, MTR Food has donated towards ‘Happiness Kit’ for Mangalore and 9000 grocery kits in Bangalore.
Mr. Sunay Bhasin, CCO, MTR Foods Pvt. Ltd, said, “At MTR Foods, we have always believed in giving back to the community that loves us and supports us. Our ‘Namma Makkalu, Namma MTR’ programme has been one of our core initiatives that we started in 2014. This year we are honoured to sponsor more than 13 lakh meals in the Mysore and Hubbali districts. With our longstanding partnership with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, it is a matter of pride for us that we are able to serve children across the state of Karnataka.”
The collaboration with Akshaya Patra has been motivated by their stellar work in the context of feeding programs, especially targeting school going children, over the past nine years. Appreciating the support, Mr. Anant Arora, Chief Sustainability & Communication Officer, Akshaya Patra Foundation said, “Our association with MTR Foods since 2014, has enabled us to serve society, reaching out to the underprivileged sections through our various endeavors. Today, we start a new chapter in this successful relationship with MTR Foods by pledging their support to sponsor over 13 lakh meals to school children across Mysuru & Hubli, over the next one year.
