The Cancer Day Awareness Programme at RHTC

Aligarh : The Cancer Day programme was organized at the Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), Jawan, Aligarh, run under the Department of Community Medicine, JN Medical College, AMU, to raise awareness and emphasize on the prevention, early detection and treatment of the disease. The theme for this year was “Close the Care Gap”.

Dr. Uzma Eram (Medical officer, RHTC) said that cancer is a bane for the society with a high disease burden and we must work together to spread awareness about its symptoms, early diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Ankit Singh (Medical Officer, CHC) educated the people about the relevance of the theme “Close the Care Gap” for this year and the burden of cancer in society. He also talked about common etiologies of various types of cancers and busted various myths about causes of cancer and its treatment.

Dr. Suboohi Afzal (Medical officer, UHTC) counseled the participants about cancers in women and their symptoms. She also talked about the benefits of early diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Ragini Singh described various tests available at CHC Jawan and proper channel through which they can get the best required treatment. She also talked about various initiatives taken by the government for early diagnosis and treatment, to help people fight cancer.

The cancer survivors from Jawan village were honoured and felicitated by Dr. Uzma Eram, Dr. Suboohi Afzal, Dr. Ankit Singh, Dr. Ragini Singh and Dr. V. K. Rajpoot.

Interns and JR-1 participated in IEC activities by making posters and charts regarding various aspects of World Cancer Day including the international theme for the year 2023 and the symptoms, treatment and prevention of cancer.
