“One day at PetrSU” for high school students

Exams are approaching, which means that high school students are increasingly looking closely at higher education institutions. Pupils of the 11th grade of secondary school No. 6 of Petrozavodsk visited PetrSU on April 28.
The tour of the university was large-scale. After getting to know all the institutes and directions at the welcoming meeting, the participants could visit some centers and laboratories of the main building of the university.

The schoolchildren visited the Aquaculture Research Center, where the deputy. Head of the Department of Animal Science, Fish Farming, Agronomy and Land Management A.Yu. Volkova and the senior lecturer of the department K.A. Petrova conducted an excursion and introduced the children to the installation of a closed water supply, the available hydrobionts and some of the features of their cultivation. The schoolchildren learned about what kind of work and scientific research are being carried out by students in the course of training in the direction of “Aquatic Bioresources and Aquaculture”.

The second location was the acquaintance with the activities of the Center for Artificial Intelligence of PetrSU, where the leading engineer of the center V.V. Melentiev spoke about the latest developments and new projects in the field of artificial intelligence. In the same place, the guys could talk with the students taking part in the work of the center, ask them questions about the specialties in which they study.

The participants of the meeting were able to see the rooms of the Scientific Library of PetrSU, visit the sector of rare books and the Humanitarian Innopark.

We hope to see the guys among the students of PetrSU this fall.
