PetrSU students – as part of the Mir medical team
Today the interregional student medical team “Mir” begins its work in the hospitals of the Republic of Karelia.
From July 15 to August 25, the summer working season will be held for fighters and candidates of medical units of Russia on the territory of the Republic of Karelia. Interregional student medical team “Mir” is a labor project, in which students of medical higher and secondary educational institutions who are members of the MOOO “Russian student teams” will take part.
Alexandra Yakovchuk, founder and head of the regional medical unit, commander of the Mir interregional student unit, said:
The “Mir” detachment also includes students of the Medical Institute of PetrSU. This year, the students-members of the detachment will have to work on the basis of three medical institutions: the Emergency Hospital and the Perinatal Center of Petrozavodsk and the Pryazha Central Regional Hospital.
It is worth noting that before the start of the working season, we thoroughly worked out all preventive measures. In addition, the children are provided with personal protective equipment and antiseptics.
Now is a very hot time, a time of intensive work: firstly, the epidemiological situation sets strict frameworks and restrictions; secondly, summer is a time of vacations, therefore, it is necessary to facilitate the work of medical personnel in medical institutions, to give medical workers the opportunity to go on vacation, to “replace them.” The detachment consists of students-specialists of a wide profile. They will occupy positions from orderlies to older sisters, paramedics. I think that such an extensive composition of the squad, varied in professional duties, will allow its members to exchange experience, new skills and competencies. I am sure it will be a fruitful working season.
Let us remind you that the project is being implemented for the second time on the territory of the Republic of Karelia. This year, more than 60 applications were received for participation in the project. 35 students from the Republic of Karelia, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Chuvash Republic, Orenburg, Omsk, Irkutsk, Pskov, Tyumen, Perm, the Republic of Mordovia, and the Republic of Tatarstan passed the competitive selection. Fighters and candidates of student medical teams will work in the Emergency Hospital in Petrozavodsk, the Republican Perinatal Center, and the Pryazha Central District Hospital as junior and paramedical personnel.
The organizer of the labor project of MSMO “Mir” is the Karelian regional branch of the Youth All-Russian public organization “Russian Student Detachments”. The event is supported by the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Karelia, the Karelian Regional Youth Center, and the Petrozavodsk Basic Medical College.
The opening of the project will take place today, July 15, at 15:00 in the Petrozavodsk Basic Medical College, st. Soviet, 15.
