Public Speaking Competition in English

The second regional competition of oratory skills in English “Let me speak-2021” was held in the Pryazha national region.
The purpose of the creative competition is to increase the general level of fluency in English among students, creativity and erudition of schoolchildren. The jury consisted of senior lecturers of the English language department of the Institute of Foreign Languages ​​of PetrSU: Valeria Arkadyevna Dmitrieva, Svetlana Anatolyevna Filon, Nadezhda Valentinovna Proskuryakova.

Thirteen students of the Pryazha and Essoil schools prepared speeches on the chosen topic and recorded them on video. The jury members evaluated the correspondence of the content of the speeches to the declared topic, phonetic and grammatical literacy, intonation design of speech, the use of stylistic techniques and rhetorical means.

The guys demonstrated a fairly fluent level of English proficiency, talking about their pets, favorite hobbies, and future profession.

Students of the Essoil school became the winners in their age categories: Ilya Okulov (grade 5) and Milena Stepanova (grade 9).

The competition was held within the framework of the flagship university development program. Assistance in its organization was provided by the Interdistrict Resource Center in Petrozavodsk (director T.S.Ternovskaya).
