Results of the academic year of the Department of Physical Culture

For the 2020/21 academic year, the Department of Physical Culture of PetrSU held 35 events, in which 2275 people took part.
The pandemic limited us in the usual, but forced us to look for new forms of work in all areas of activity. This new thing was found, successfully implemented, and therefore the sports life of the university this year was traditionally full of competitions, tournaments and events,

– told the staff of the department.

A new, street format for the fitness marathon appeared, which took place in September and May at the stadium of the Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism: for three hours, different master classes were held at three sites, the participants could choose the most interesting activity for themselves. The spring fitness marathon was unusual in its “male” orientation: “fitness boxing”, “skipping tabata”, “coordination ladder”.

The obligatory and strict separation of all study groups from each other led to the emergence of a new type of competition “shuttle general physical training”, in which almost 500 people took part in September.

50 years ago, one could be “sad” from the lack of communication, information and the opportunity to express oneself. But the modern world is also modern: there is an opportunity to participate in competitions online. Online calls from the Department of Physical Education “Press +”, “Plank”, “100 + 100” made it possible to bring points to your institute and check your physical fitness in comparison with others, even while at home. The online format of the chess tournament turned out to be convenient, interesting and in demand.

The winners of all competitions were awarded with diplomas. It should also be noted that the Department of Physical Culture of PetrSU was introduced – participation in the “Weekly Breakthrough” project, which gave an opportunity and impetus to daily classes during the week according to the proposed program in the company and with the support of like-minded people. The project was run on the basis of the social network “VKontakte” for three weeks and in total brought together more than 400 participants.

The second semester gave an opportunity to return to the traditional competitions of the Spartakiad of PetrSU. Teams of the institutes competed in the championships in cross-country skiing, basketball, volleyball, streetball, table tennis and bench press. All winners and prize-winners were marked with diplomas, medals and awarded at a solemn sports evening,

– noted the teachers of the Department of Physical Culture.

Teams of institutes also took part in the street sports festival, competing not only with each other, but also with the SPO teams. All students were given the opportunity to pass the TRP standards by participating in the TRP Festival among educational organizations. The participation of our teams in the track and field athletics relay dedicated to the Great Victory on May 9 was honorable.

The possibilities of physical activity of teachers and staff of the university did not go unnoticed. For them, the Department of Physical Education conducted health-improving classes – in the gym with master classes on the basics of self-study and in the fitness room (yoga, stretching, Pilates and classes on the basics of proper breathing, as well as breathing as the basis for recovery from the postponed coronavirus) … The winners of the running competitions (using the Strava app) in the online chess tournament were awarded with certificates and prizes from the trade union committee of teachers and employees of PetrSU. To enhance family sports traditions, sports events were held: a ski holiday and a holiday of sports games “Winter Fun”.
