Green Station To Be Opened Soon The Green Station will be opened at Siberian Federal University as part of the Priority 2030 program. It will become the rallying point for all environmental initiatives on campus. Its residents will look for solutions in the field of low-carbon development, and the scientific station itself will be provided by carbon-neutral technologies.

A laboratory of construction ecology and energy efficiency will be opened on the basis of the Green Station and will be engaged in the research and practical implementation of elements of a green environment and resource and energy efficiency technologies. In addition, it will function as an educational platform for holding open scientific events and lectures. The station will house a co-working space that can be used by university communities and associations.

“Within the framework of the Priority 2030 program, we are implementing a project to reduce the carbon impact. The Green Station will work on scaling up these technologies, gradually introducing them throughout the campus. One of the features of the laboratory will be its openness: a road from the bus stop to the academic building will pass through this station. Thus, anyone will be able to observe the work of scientists. The building will be reequipped by the end of the year,” said Igor Tarasov, project manager, director of School of Engineering and Construction, SibFU.

The builders have already completed the most intensive part of the work — drilling 12 wells for the geothermal heating system. The equipment will be powered by solar energy — solar panels are planned to be installed on the roof of the station.

High school students of Gymnasium No. 3 were the first visitors of the Green Station. Professors of the School of Engineering and Construction showed them around the construction project.
