SKKU: SKKU’s Institute of Quantum Biophysics and Merck Life Science signed a MoU for an industry-academic collaboration

The Institute of Quantum Biophysics of Sungkyunkwan University (President Dong-Ryeol Shin) announced that it has signed a MoU with Merck, a global science and technology leading company on December 10 (Fri) to cooperate research and development of diagnosis and disease treatment based on quantum biophysics theory and phenomena.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Natural Science Campus of Sungkyunkwan University. Professor Luke P. Lee, Han-sang Cho from the Institute of Quantum Biophysics and Nam-gu Lee, a general director of Merck Life Science’s Research Solution Business, and etc. attended the ceremony.

Based on this agreement, two institutions plan to provide a seminar and educational programs for knowledge/information exchange, run a scholarship and internship program to secure talents in the field of biological science.

Luke P. Lee, a professor of SKKU’s Institute of Quantum Biophysics, said, “The Institute of Quantum Biophysics aims to collaborate with basic science, engineering, and medical researchers to develop cutting-edge quantum medical technologies. We hope that Merck’s technology and know-how will lead to research results that contribute to the development of modern medicine.”

Nam-gu Lee, a general director of Merck Life Science’s Research Solution Business, said “Quantum biophysics, which implements practical medicine through applied research, is a field that has a great influence on the development of life science and precision medical technology in the future. We will actively support the products and services needed in the relevant research fields through industry-academic collaboration.”
