The meeting of the section “Local history” of the conference “The Future of Karelia”

Teachers of the Department of National History of PetrSU conducted an expert assessment of students’ work in local history.
On March 29, 2021, the defense of research and design works of students in grades 9-11 in local history took place in the framework of the XXVI Interregional Open Research Conference of Students “The Future of Karelia”.

10 reports were presented at the section “Local history”. They touched upon topical issues of the development of the tourism industry in Karelia, genealogy, the problem of preserving historical memory, regional traditions of the Russian people, etc.

High school students in Petrozavodsk, Pryazhinsky, Medvezhyegorsk districts of the Republic of Karelia, and the Republic of Tatarstan demonstrated their mastery of the art of public speaking, the ability to answer questions, and the ability to express their opinion clearly and convincingly.

The jury of the section “Regional Studies” included associate professors of the Department of National History of PetrSU, Yulia N. Zelenskaya, Irina N. Ruzhinskaya, Oleg I. Kulagin.

The jury members noted the students’ interest in continuing to work on research and projects, the use of information and communication technologies. In the final address to the conference participants, the jury members thanked the scientific leaders of the schoolchildren for their high professionalism in preparing the conference participants, wished high school students a successful scientific search and expressed hope for a new meeting within the framework of the Future of Karelia conference in 2022.

The results of the XXVI Interregional Open Scientific Research Conference of Students “The Future of Karelia” will be summed up after all the defenses have taken place. The lists of winners will be published on the conference website simultaneously in the areas “Juniors” and “Young Researchers”.
