Two-day cultural festival in Bani enthralls audience

KATHUA : A two-day cultural festival organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Sub Office Kathua at Mela Ground in Bani.

The festival was conducted under the direction of Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Bharat Singh. Tehsildar Bani Sudesh Kumar Sharma was the chief guest while Suresh Kumar, Sarpanch of Gatti village was the guest of honour on the occasion.

The chief guest said that more events like this should be organised to revive age-old traditions and promote communal harmony and community participation. He hoped that JKAACL would continue to organise such events in Bani.

Sanjeev Gupta from SOCA at JKAACL Sub-Office Kathua said that such events aim to revive priceless performing heritage and enrich the minds of people through traditional wisdom.

On the inaugural day, cultural performances were presented by various groups including Darmej Sandhu, Varinder Jyotiam, Rahul Kumar, Neelam Devi of Bani, Babli Devi, Dhani Ram, Narinder Singh and Raj Kumar. Different folk music and dance forms like Hern, Suaagh Gorian, Jattar and Kud were performed.
