Ural Federal University: From Institute to University: UrFU Will Support Transformation in Navoiy
Transformation of the spheres of industry and education of Uzbekistan – in particular the changes that will take place in Navoiy – will be supported by specialists of the Ural Federal University. Agreements on this were reached today during a meeting between Victor Koksharov, rector of the Ural Federal University, and Kuvandik Sanakulov, general director of the Navoiy Mining and Metallurgical Plant and rector of the Mining Institute.
“In view of grandiose plans that Navoi faces, the Uzbek side is interested in our programs of additional education for teachers of the institute, who are preparing to introduce the “digital” in training, and employees of the combine, which expects serious changes in both production and management,” Koksharov said after signing a memorandum with the Plant and the agreement with the Institute yesterday.
Kuvandik Sanakulov underlined that next year Mining Institute will be transformed into a polytechnic university with tripled number of students and appearance of new training directions in the sphere of construction, information technologies, industrial ecology, energy saving, power engineering and machine building.
In his turn, Victor Koksharov assured that both academic and research cooperation are possible in all these fields, as well as in metallurgy, which is traditional for the relations between the two parties – a relevant work plan has been signed.
The head of the company and the Institute also noted the close ties with the Urals, which are maintained by the UPI (now Ural Federal University) graduates and researchers.
